Stitches. Emotions

 Successful medical van ride in wheelchair to plastic surgeon's office. We were an hour early and they were two hours late! Through the frustration of the wait, we learned that our bladder control was much better than we had thought!  Even when things don't feel good, He is teaching us something good that we would not have learned in any other way.  Praise God.  ❤️🙏. All but two stitches were removed.  The rest will come out next week.

Final urine test showed she is on the correct antibiotics.  All UTI symptoms resolved.

Continuing to see wonderful daily improvements in strength, mobility, ease of transfers, appetite, speech, memory, and cognition.  Apparently, the emotion centers of Rie's brain are now undergoing repair and recovery. Don't panic if during your conversations, you notice minute long emotional eruptions.  They call it "Emotional Incontinence".  It is part of the healing and often not associated with sadness. The eruptions pass quickly and spontaneously.

Most of the patients and the staff here in the rehab hospital sound congested and cough frequently.  Please pray that Rie doesn't catch their URI while fighting a UTI🙏.

    I was talking to God Sunday night about the emotions because I had felt in my spirit it was actually a sign of healing. God had confirmed that to me and now I read your post! Praise the Lord, shedding tears of joy for God’s goodness. Lord Jesus we know your hand is on Rie and Sasan and pray for continued strength and improvement and that no unclean virus would disrupt her healing process. We also pray for Sasan that you would give him wisdom and strength during this healing process for Rie. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus.

12/12/23 Update

 Today is Mia's 16th birthday.  The three of us went shopping for clothes for her yesterday.  It was the first time in over two years that Rie shopped without a wheelchair, using just a standard quad walker.   It almost felt like a normal pre-stroke shopping day, including the backache I used to get whenever we went shopping for clothes! Praise God. ❤️🙏

It’s been one year!

It’s been one year since Rie’s stroke on 7/30/2021. We’re thankful for the steady progress despite so many complications. Every apparent set back has proven to be a set up for something better. Praise the Lord! ❤️🙏
