Everything Will Be Alright

The therapist tested Rie with the tall hiking sticks. A bit unsteady but knowing Rie, it is very possible that she will progress rapidly with the walking sticks as the demand is put on the muscles that she has not used in the past 14 months. I’ll try to post a video of her with the walking sticks on this blog once she gets a little more steady with them. Thank you for the prayers.❤️🙏

 Rie passed the 6 minute fast-walking test in therapy clinic yesterday! She used her own walker with minimal supervision. The goal is to transition from wheelchair to walker for most daily activities. Praise the Lord!❤️🙏

 Rie walked up and down the stairs in the rehab building with moderate assistance (11 steps thrice in a row). Praise the Lord ❤️🙏. The therapist trained and cleared me to try it with Rie at home. Rie’s goal ever since we got home in February has been to go down the back deck stairs (13 steep ones) to the yard to weed since I don’t do weeds! She loves gardening. 

  It had been 400 days since the last time Rie had been inside a restaurant! It went well. Praise God.❤️🙏

 Thankfully, Rie’s UTI has resolved. Her parents and siblings are back to Virginia and California. Rie had a bunch of neck spasms yesterday possibly due to some new neck therapy exercises. Massage helped. Doing much better today. We’re finally finding some time to work on our super delinquent 2020 tax filings! Our CPA says the IRS may waive the penalties since we were in hospitals for so many months 🙏.

 The family visit is going well despite a minor setback due to Rie’s UTI causing her to be very sluggish. Rie’s siblings are back in Virginia and California. Her parents will have to return to Virginia later this week. The UTI seems to be responding to the antibiotics as Rie has regained her speed, stamina, and sense of humor! Praise God❤️🙏.
