Headache nausea vomiting spasms. Acting like her typical migraines but I’ve got my backpack ready for a 911 call just in case. Prayers are appreciated.❤️π
Per Rie’s surgeon, we stopped the time consuming daily wound care. With that extra time and with Rie’s overall improvements, we decided to take our first nonessential trip out of the house. The short trip to the bank to close an old account was perfect! Praise God. ❤️π
Plastic surgeon says scalp scar is healing well! Recheck in one month! Praise God. π Now, we can try to catch up with other doctor appointments, past due bills and taxes and notify the rehab team that we can resume the push for outpatient therapy. A big thank you to all that have been praying for us. Love and blessings.❤️π
As recently as two months ago, I didn’t think a dentist office could handle Rie’s appointments due to logistical hurdles so I looked for dentists that might round in hospitals but couldn’t find any. Since then, she’s made so much progress that the crown measurement appointment yesterday went perfectly well! Praise Godπ. Her fancy “tilt-in-space” wheelchair finally arrived after six months. It’s so comfortable she is napping in it right now. Her last three stitches were removed today. The incision is looking good so far. Please pray for complete healing of the scar without any weak areas.❤️π
Rie had a good day. She enjoyed an unhurried shower. We thoroughly rinsed her surgical wounds and reapplied Bacitracin ointment. We had good chats with Mia. Rie ate good food, had a good nap, then a good walk. We read the Good Book and thanked our Good God.❤️π
Drain # 2 was removed yesterday as its output dropped significantly. Some or all stitches to be removed on Monday(π). Rie extended her daily walk with the roller to the street over the front deck. She asked to fold the clean laundry and thankfully did a great job while standing independently. She may regret that offer!❤️π
Drain #2 couldn’t be removed as it’s output increased after drain #1 was removed. We’re praying that the output drops soon so we can get the drain removed which would significantly simplify the daily wound care and improve Rie’s ability to mobilize again safely. After this last surgery, Rie was quite groggy and weak but thankfully all of that have finally resolved. She walked 300 feet yesterday with her rollator walker with minimal assistance. Praise God.❤️π
Drain #1 was removed yesterday. The plastic surgeon was encouraged by the wound healing progress. The trip there, as usual took up more than half of our day but thankfully was smooth and uneventful. Drain #2 of 2 to be removed tomorrow if the output slows down. His Will be done π.
Yesterday we were able to rush out of the house for a work-in appointment with the nurse in the Round Rock location. Only took us an hour to get ready and an hour to drive. We checked in and after an hour and a half in the waiting area, we found out they had forgotten about us. They canceled the appointment and rescheduled for Monday. It will be here in Austin and with the surgeon himself! All things work together for good…(Rom 8:28)❤️π
We did nothing! Not even unpack. Just sat around chatting with Mia and my brother. Rie and I were able to sleep all night without interruptions. Rie has two JP drains under the incisions. Hopefully one will be removed today and the other on Monday. Those doctor office visits gobble up half of our day, the other half to unwind; but thankful that we’ll get to spend the nights at home with Mia❤️π
Rie had lots of vomiting earlier in the night but slept well the second half. No major concerns this morning. Praise Godπ. Home tomorrow if tolerates food today.π
Vital signs stable. Pain under control. Incisional bleeding minimal. Spirits good. Courage much stronger than mine.❤️. Several of you have reached out today; a great blessing to us. ❤️π
Surgery went well. Just finished. Required extensive scar revision to reinforce areas that were weakened by five craniotomies and an earlier infection. No graft needed. Prognosis is good according to her surgeon. Possibly going home in a day or two. Praise God.❤️π
The plastic surgeon’s office told us to go to the hospital today for pre-op evaluation and get admitted in preparation for tomorrow’s surgery. Packed our bags last night. Waiting for Rie to wake up. Prayers are appreciated.❤️π
