Surgery #6: Scalp scar revision/graft in SEVEN days!

360 Feet! Surgery Next Tuesday.

Walking Record: 360 feet with the rollator walker!  UPDATES: The custom-made wheelchair is finally ready and will be delivered on 5/17/22.   Out of network insurance issue for next week's surgery is apparently resolved!  Praise God!

300 feet!

Today Rie walked 300 feet with her rollator walker!  I barely held her gait belt as a precaution.  The walk included her first walk outside the house on the front deck to welcome sister AB who has come to visit from California.  It was an amazing day!

Surgery on May 3rd

Scalp scar revision with possible alloderm skin graft scheduled for May 3rd. Outpatient or one night stay.  That area of the scalp is very thin from five previous surgeries.  It is at risk for breakdown and getting the implant infected.  It's not the best feeling to think about a sixth surgery but it is definitely needed for a peace of mind.  We're very thankful for Rie's kind and thorough surgeon.  He is considered to be one of the best. Prayers are appreciated. ❤️🙏 Rie walked 240 feet with the rollator.  All I had to do was keep her from running!

Minor Procedure Soon

The ride to the plastic surgeon's office this morning went well.  Praise God.  The one-centimeter thin area on the scalp scar is fine for now but vulnerable.  If it breaks down, the implant can easily get infected necessitating removal of the implant and leaving it out  for several months.  The surgeon recommended scar revision and possible alloderm graft reinforcement within the next two to three weeks.  We've asked the surgeon to proceed as soon as he has an opening.  The nurse will call us with the details.  It will either be an outpatient procedure or a one-night stay.  Prayers are appreciated. 💗🙏

180 Feet!

Rie broke another record: walked 180 feet with the walker. I had only two fingers under her gait belt just in case she lost her balance but didn't have to use them.  Upgrading to a rollator walker which is in the mail.  It has four wheels which makes it easier to navigate, especially around tight corners (on the way to Mia's room!).  The rollator also has a seat in case Rie gets tired or wobbly. I have been praying without ceasing over that thin area in Rie's scalp scar. All of the sudden, it looked better last night so I had my first real good night of sleep last night! Her next plastic surgeon appointment was in four months but I moved it to this Monday for closer monitoring. We don't want that implant to get infected.  Please pray specifically for healing and infection protection for Rie and for increased faith for me. ( early Apostles pleaded to the Lord, “Increase our faith” -Luke 17:5). Love and blessings ❤️🙏

Brief update

Rie broke her walking record: 150 feet with the rolling walker with me just walking along just in case. Voice, memory and cognition improved. Insight and impulsiveness much better. Using the right hand a lot more. She is highly motivated.  We're watching that thin area in her scalp scar very closely.  We're working through a sux month old stack of bills and tax forms, very slow process. Prayers are appreciated. ❤️🙏
